So while Arun Shourie may have been a great nit-picking scholar and maybe this maybe not the other,  the point is that a member of the RAJYA SABHA and not the elected body of the lok sabha he is not accountable to the people.  It has been stolidly argued that the electoral politics being what it is,  those with their beauties in their brains and not in their brawns or megaphonic megalomanias or rather caste equations will not or rather cannot find their way in and since their superb talents are the needs of the day in the changed scenario of GLOBALISATION which is supposedly 'IRREVERSIBLE' and we may as well bring in this or that brainsy booksy
ex-world bankie in through the backdoor of the Rajya Sabha which would be proud to play host to such a sterling character, with great integrity and basically one who does not and has never been caught with the hand in the tilly much less stole the stationary. . .
and with that we enter the realm of SURREAL SAT:
 AS IN REALITY AS IT IS OR TRUTH AS IT IS! NOT SAT AS IN SATURDAY NIGHT LEVER! WHERE THE STATIONARY GETS STOLEN. . .

It is an apochryphal tale in the public domain of political gossip,  that when the self-same Arun Shourie was busy playing one man army crusader candle-light against the dark days of EMERGENCY while the rest of the rabble slept in torpor or RATHER TOOK TRAINS WHICH FOR THE FIRST TIME RAN ON TIME,  the said light of our darkdays,  was supposed to have been egged on by his totally freaked out boss,  GOENKA who told this bright young thing to carry on the crusade of candlelight to dispel the darkness of emergency because this one's dad used to cadge STATIONARY OFF HIM DURING THE FREEDOM STRUGGLE! AND HOW COULD SHE. . . was his unmitigated fury!

So it is with that sterling quality of a crusading candle-light,  of a depth of integrity to carry-on the candle in the darkdays of emergency and above all the get-back at the stationery cadger's daughter or so goes the apochryphal story much entrenched in the public domain of political gossip mongering,  that we get this ARUN SHOURIE AS OUR DISINVESTMENT MINISTER.

But the basics are somehow lost to sanity.  How does a man of integrity,  great grit and not being caught with the hand in the tilly or better yet never having stolen the stationery get to get AN AUTOMATIC ONE-UP OR HEAVE-UP TO MAKE IT THE DISINVESTMENT MINISTRY BEING ACCOUNTABLE TO NO ONE?

IF SOMEONE DOES NOT STEAL THE STATIONERY THEN THAT SOMEONE SHOULD BE JAMMEDAR OR JANITOR OF STATIONERY STORES NOT YOU KNOW. . . ISN'T THAT THE BASIC PREMISE OF ALL SUCH PREMISES?

And in case every one gets het up all this please note that what the SUPERB SUPREME COURT OF INDIA THROUGH HER TWO JUDGES,  MIND YOU TWO HUMANS IN A POSITION TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE,  only two,  has done was left the wealth of some 50,000 million rupees in the till till such time as the wealth of the commons is sold with the approval of the commons and to be kept in safe custody of the common weal and if that isn't case for exit
